Case Study Background

New Forest Kennels & Cattery is a busy boarding facility providing professional care for dogs and cats within a semi-rural environment. The site includes extensive outdoor areas, kennels, cattery buildings and surrounding woodland, operating continuously to support animal welfare.

Due to its location and layout, the facility required a modern security solution capable of protecting animals, staff and business assets while operating reliably in low-light conditions and minimising false alarms caused by wildlife and environmental movement.

An existing analogue CCTV system was in place but delivered poor image quality and limited effectiveness, particularly at night. The client also reported concerns around individuals accessing the perimeter of the site, prompting the need for a more intelligent and responsive approach to security.

The Solution

A11 Security LTD partnered with Dahua Technology to deliver a phased, integrated security solution tailored to the operational and environmental challenges of the site.

Rather than deploying traditional external beam systems, which were deemed unsuitable due to the high risk of false alarms from weather and wildlife, A11 Security recommended Dahua TiOC Pro cameras for perimeter protection. These cameras provide full-colour imaging in total darkness, intelligent human detection, active deterrence through warning lights, and two-way audio for remote intervention.

Eight TiOC Pro cameras were initially installed around the perimeter, with additional units added in later phases, alongside further cameras within newly constructed quarantine kennels to support remote monitoring of sick or injured animals.

The system was later expanded to include automated gate access using Came ATS rams and induction loop detectors, enabling time-based customer access during business hours. Following an attempted dog theft, access control was further enhanced through the deployment of a Dahua ANPR camera for staff vehicles and a Dahua VTO video intercom system for deliveries and visitor management.

To complement the CCTV system, a Dahua Wireless AirShield intruder alarm was installed across kennels, cattery areas and the main house, providing integrated detection through door contacts, motion sensors and external visual deterrents.

The integrated Dahua platform now provides 24/7 visibility, supports animal welfare through remote monitoring and two-way audio, and enables secure, efficient access for staff, customers and deliveries.
